Well, I learned that I am not an expert in WordPress.
I did learn a lot about how to best serve students in their learning journey, however. I loved the bit about how students don’t actually learn as well if they perceive the material as too easy, as they tend to lose interest and not take in the information. But that a little bit of frustration will make them try harder and push through.
WordPress was frustrating, and I understand the reasoning behind using it, but as I am a learner who prefers to work on her own, I didn’t find this a conducive environment for me. This also makes me think about what students might need.
The learning strategies that were most effective to me were those which focused on providing a learner-centred experience, and which try to cultivate trust and openness in the virtual classroom.
In my own practice, I might try finding extra materials that will allow students to learn more in depth. And I will certainly try to cultivate trust in my course.
