It’s interesting to go back through these posts and see how I present myself and how I respond to students through feedback and through my structuring of a course. I am proud of the course I’m developing as I think it’s been created with a great deal of attention to matching learning outcomes with assignments/assessments.
The important takeaway ideas I have are:
- feeding up, back and forward.
- Providing a cohesive sense of myself to students so that they feel they can know me
- Really being clear on the link between learning outcomes and assessments so that things make sense and they are set up for success. I was surprised that when students don’t succeed it’s often when outcomes don’t align with assessments.
Goals:
- I’d like to create an online classroom experience that students feel energized and excited to participate in. I can do this through forum participation, through icebreakers, and through aligning all the teaching elements.
- I’d like to ensure that as many of my surface learners become depth learners as possible. I can do this through engaging them with the material and ensuring that my teaching style is encouraging their own responsibility and their own interest.
